Job description

Position Overview:

As a Junior R&D Mechatronics Engineer, you will work on developing innovative robotic articulation systems utilizing alternatives to our current joint transmission technologies. You will work with a certain level of independence while collaborating closely with stakeholders in the grasping team and the research department. Moreover, you will receive dedicated technical supervision to ensure continuous growth and proficiency in your role.

Your goal will be to conceptualize, prototype, and test advanced solutions, contributing to our vision of cutting-edge robotics technology.

Mission:

  • Contribute to the design and development of novel robotic articulation systems with a focus on transmissions and cable actuation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and ensure successful integration of your designs.

  • Work with a certain level of autonomy to prototype and test solutions, while seeking guidance from experienced team members as needed.

  • Study the state-of-the-art in mechatronics, robotics, and motorization transmissions, such as cable actuation, to inform your design decisions.

  • Assist in analyzing innovative solutions, incorporating kinematic and dynamic modeling and mechanical design principles.

  • Execute testing methodologies to validate prototypes and refine designs, maintaining a strong focus on methodical and structured testing.

  • Document the engineering process, results, and insights to support the team's knowledge sharing and potential patent applications.

Profile

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.

  • Demonstrate 1-2 years experience in relevant robotic projects and/or relevant internships.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to study and synthesize state-of-the-art technologies.

  • Robust theoretical understanding of mechanical principles encompassing motors, gearboxes, and linkages

  • Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design (SolidWorks, Solidworks motion, other simulation tools). Experience with the CAD Solidworks 3Dx system is a plus.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate within cross-functional teams. Advanced English and full professional proficiency in French requested.

  • Self-motivated and capable of working with a degree of independence.

  • Passion for learning, problem-solving, and contributing to innovative designs.

  • Hands-on attitude to prototype and test ideas quickly.

  • An adaptable mindset and eagerness to collaborate with stakeholders.
